Memphis International Airport

The 164th Airlift Wing is located at the Memphis Air National Guard Base at Memphis International Airport. Memphis International Airport, "America's Aerotropolis," is a world-class facility serving more than a million passengers a year. It is the only airport in North America considered to be an "aerotropolis," an airport-integrated region extending outward from the airport in strings and clusters of airport-linked businesses and their associate residential complexes. For more information, click here to visit the airport's Web site.

C-17 Globemaster III

The C-17 Globemaster III is the newest, most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward bases in the deployment area. The aircraft can perform tactical airlift and airdrop missions and can transport litters and ambulatory patients during aeromedical evacuations when required. The inherent flexibility and performance of the C-17 force improve the ability of the total airlift system to fulfill the worldwide air mobility requirements of the United States.  View full fact sheet.
