MEMPHIS AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Memphis, Tenn. (April 2, 2017) – One sibling passed the baton to another as the legacy of service continues for one family.

Sabina Talley took the oath of enlistment into the Tennessee Air National Guard April 1, 2017 at the 164th Airlift Wing base Memphis, Tenn.

Talley was sworn in by her brother, Maj. Dierk Seifert, an air battle manager at Robins Air Force Base, Houston County, Ga.

“I’m a single mom, and I felt like this is what I needed to do to secure my future and my daughter’s future,” said Talley.

At the age of 38, Talley took a courageous and bold step. One that many, would not be willing to take.

“I’m very proud of her,” said Seifert. “It’s one of the proudest things I have ever done. I’m really looking forward to her beginning her journey in the Air Force, as I come to the end of mine.”

Talley has lived in Memphis for more than 20 years, and when the opportunity came for her to serve locally, she took action.

“When I found out that I can serve here and stay local,” said Talley. “That was important to me, so that was the reason why I chose this route.”

Seifert is very excited for his sister and chose to share some words of advice.

“Do the absolute best that you can do, and you will rise to the top.”
